Moodle: How to add LearnSci LabSims or Smart Worksheets (LTI 1.3)

The LearnSci resources fully integrate with your Moodle platform. All of your resources are hosted, maintained and updated by Learning Science and are added to Moodle using our tool in just a few steps.

For help and support email support@learnsci.com.

Before you start
  1. The LearnSci LTI 1.3 tool must have been preconfigured by a Moodle administrator - if you can’t find it using these instructions, please contact us and we’ll advise further.
  2. If you need your assessment data kept separate from that of other academics at your institution, please contact support@learnsci.com and we will provide you with a link to a custom assessment which you will then be able to add to your course(s) using the guidance below.
  3. Pre-existing resources added using our old tool will still work for a limited time for your reference, but it’s important that you re-add anything you wish to use during your current academic year using this new tool.

 1. Navigate to the Moodle course/module where you want to add the LabSim or Smart Worksheet and select "Turn editing on".

2. Select "Add an activity or resource".

3. Select "Learning Science Tools".

or, if not available, you can select "External Tool"

4. Click the Select Content button (if you selected External Tool in the previous step, firstly ensure that Learning Science Tools is selected using the preconfigured tool drop down menu).

5. The first time you launch the new LearnSci tool, you’ll need to accept the privacy policy.

6. Next, using the content drop down menu, select the resource type you’d like to add to your course.

7. Select the resources you wish to add to your course by clicking the check boxes next to each. You can select as many as you like, across any of the content areas.

If you are adding assessments you’ve requested you can also choose whether to add these to your own gradebook here as well
.

8. When you’ve finished, scroll to the bottom of the window and click the add content button

9. Your selected resources will be listed on the next screen, click save and return to course.

10. ImportantIf you experience any difficulty opening resources, or (particularly in the case of Smart Worksheets) the content is not fully visible on smaller screens, you can set each added resource to open in a new window. This ensures maximum compatibility and allows the full resources to be shown.
