What is my Shared Secret?
The LTI Shared Secret (and Consumer Key) authorise and authenticate your Learning Science resources (LTI tool links) on your VLE/LMS.
Depending on your VLE/LMS, the Shared Secret may have a different name. For example, on Blackboard it is referred to as the "Tool provider secret" and on Blackboard Ultra it is referred to as the "Security token".
If the Learning Science LTI tool has been configured at your institution, your VLE/LMS administrator will have set up the Shared Secret (and Consumer Key). In this case, instructors do not need to enter the Shared Secret (or Consumer Key) to embed Learning Science resources.
If the Learning Science LTI tool has not been configured at your institution, instructors will need to enter your Shared Secret (and Consumer Key) each time they add a Learning Science resource to the VLE/LMS. Your Consumer Key will always be the same but you may have more than one Shared Secret.
