Before you start
- The LearnSci LTI 1.3 tool must have been preconfigured by a Brightspace administrator - if you can’t find it using these instructions, please contact us and we’ll advise further.
- Pre-existing resources added using our old tool will still work for a limited time for your reference, but it’s important that you re-add anything you wish to use using this new tool.
The LearnSci LTI 1.3 Tool can not only be used to add standalone activities and assessments within your courses, but it can also be used to embed LearnSci content almost anywhere you can edit text, for example in the description of any of your resources, allowing you to seamlessly embed the resources into your own teaching materials.
Note: This method is not suitable for embedding assessments that need to be added to your gradebook. If you need a grade item added to your grade book, please add the assessment directly to your course using the existing activities menu.
Adding LearnSci resources to Brightspace using the text editor
1. Inside a course, click in any content description field (this procedure works for any activity or module where you can enter text).
2. In the text editor toolbar, click the insert stuff icon:
3. Select LearnSci Tools from the list
4. Select the LearnSci resource you wish to add from the content selection window (see the guide on this here). Grading is not relevant when adding resources in this way so you only need to tick the first checkbox for each.
Note: Adding more than one resource at a time using this method may generate an error, if this is the case, please add one resources at a time. You can repeat this as many times as necessary.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the content selection window and click Add Content
The LearnSci content will appear in your page as a link, which will open the resource when the students click on it. You can continue adding any mix of your own content and LearnSci activities as needed.
6. Click Update to save your changes
